Norfolk #1 AGAIN in 2007
(2003, 2005, and 2007)
and Colebrook was ranked #7
In the March, 2007, issue
of Connecticut Magazine among the twenty-seven rated towns with a population
of under 3,500, Norfolk is at the very top of the list and Colebrook was No 7. Here's the
first paragraph of the article:
"Norfolk has long been known as the 'Icebox of Connecticut,' but, with its good schools and global warming, the town is becoming more attractive by the day. Situated up on the Massachusetts border in the western part of the state, Norfolk actually has a couple of spots that are considered to be in a more northerly clime—featuring different sorts of vegetation—than the rest of Connecticut. It's warm in the library, though, for which the town annually spends more than $200 per person, by far the highest amount in the state. On the other hand, neighboring Colebrook doesn't even have its own library, but still managed to finish No 7, mostly due to good schools and very little crime."
